About the Book

Madan G Gandhi’s new Publication ‘Enchanting Flute’ undoubtedly owing its inspiration to those Masters of the Flute, Lord Krishna and Jalludin Rumi, the Great Sufi Poet, makes Sri Madan join the ranks of those who compose what the great Shelley called ‘The Higher Poetry’ as opposed to the poets of the mundane
– Alan Adams Jacobs
In Enchanting Flute, the poet seeks to communicate the supernal vision and the perennial harmony, experienced by the poet in moments of divine inspiration. Hence, it is resonant with the song of the miracle of creation and the ecstasy of the Ineffable.
Also, the heightened awareness of reality attained by him, is communicated through the images and metaphors that are surcharged with the intensity of the experience. Hence, his poetry has an incantatory effect and is in the nature of a chant. At times, it acquires a dreamy aspect and its words seem to fade into a silence that leads to a transcendence beyond all created sights and sounds of the world.

About the Book

Beaded with drops of love poems in the collection Soul capture the fleeting moments. Like the holy Ganges in flood it depicts the roaring of waves and yet of ripples singing psalms. Simple and concrete, thoughts and ideas interlaced with deep philosophical certitude keep the readers enthralled with amazement with the beautifully woven tapestry. Intertwined with the words are cosmic truths. If the reader concentrates mere on the words or diction he might miss the soul of the poems. Running beside and scattered between words are the gaps which convey much more by suggestiveness. Besides a perceptive reader will encounter subtle and silent conveyor belts carrying rare gems of parables and prayerful garlands along with rows of unique and bewitching birds and flowers as well as the silence and melody of a sensitive heart and soliloquy of a sophisticated soul.
Like a pheasant with multihued plumage soaring high in the firmament but casting its grey shadow on the earth, like a jet-plane carrying hundreds of passengers with their different minds and moods but a similar goal and destination the poet have dovetailed subtle feelings and thoughts in his poetry.

About the Book

O.P. Ranchan’s ‘Prem Sutra’, a collection of fifty poems, is an illuminating work on the subject of love-relationship between man and woman. Though addressed the work is to lovers for their education for the understanding of love-relationship, it, never-the-less, is meant for all. What is presented, said and pointed out in the poems is applicable to all in varying degrees. Love that we practice, the work holds out, determines our action and upon it rests our mental health and happiness or their lack, if love is of the wrong kind.
Love is painted as the capacity to take interest in the other. It is held out to be spontaneous happy giving, covering up all forms of giving inclusive of giving understanding, trust appreciation, acceptance and freedom to each-other to be what one is, recognition of each other’s individuality and potentiality.
The poems in themselves, individually, are complete, but when read together they form a deep inquiry into love that is healthy, happy and life-giving, that can be achieved with directed schooling of heart and mind with remoulding of our nature and understanding.

About the Author

Dr. Nandini Sahu is a renowned Indian English poet and a creative writer of international repute. She has been widely published in Asia, Africa, Europe and the USA. A double gold medalist in English literature, the award winner of All India Poetry Contest and the Shiksha Ratna Purashkar, she is the author/editor of eight books entitled “The Other Voice”(a poetry collection), “Recollection as Redemption”, “Post-Modernist Delegation to English Language Teaching”, “The Silence”(a poetry collection),“The Post Colonial Space: Writing the Self and the Nation”,“Silver Poems on My Lips”(a poetry collection), Folklore and the Alternative Modernities (Vol. I and II) published from New Delhi. Presently, she teaches at Indira Gandhi National Open University [IGNOU], New Delhi, as an Associate Professor of English. Dr. Sahu has designed academic programmes/courses on Folklore and Culture Studies, Children’s Literature and American Literature for IGNOU. Her areas of research interest cover Indian Literature, New Literatures, Folklore and Culture Studies, American Literature, Children’s Literature and Critical Theory. She is the Chief Editor/Founder Editor of the bi-annual, refereed journal, Interdisciplinary Journal of Literature and Language (IJLL).

Nandini Sahu’s poetic oeuvre is marked by strident forays into simultaneous worlds of the physical and the metaphysical. She merges with ease and aplomb the realities and allegories of life into lucid poetic tales, making a niche for herself within the ever expanding canons of Indian English poetry. Nandini’s eco-feminist creed imbues her poetry with truthful vigour, augmented by a constellation of memorable images, set against the canvas of an undiluted Nature that suffuses her mindscape. In this collection which was envisaged as the lyrical biography of a woman, Sahu’s poetic personae has delved deep into the recesses of one thoroughly bred on the nuances of metropolitan literature, yet never having lost sight of her roots. The title poem is a testimony to her empathy with the subaltern. Sukamaa is Nandini’s folklore and the poem is an outcome of her concern for the ‘other’ – the rural, poor tribal woman Sukamaa who is evenly poised between oblivion, nostalgia and an ever hovering presence that impels the poet to retrace her contours. Thus, Nandini’s fourth poetry collection, Sukamaa and Other Poems, is her tribute to the marginal. Most poems in this volume are the utterance of a revolutionary zeal to straighten out the record between the less and the more fortunate – thereby to set up an inclusive standpoint within the matrix of a complex identity politics.
